Guide Right is a program for the educational and occupational guidance of youth, primarily inspirational and informational in character. It has resourceful outreach to high schools and colleges that provide attention to the needs of undergraduate Brothers. The Montgomery Alumni Chapter’s Guide Right initiatives are:
The Montgomery Alumni Chapter works in conjunction with the Beta Zeta Chapter, the Omicron Lambda Chapter, and the Pi Chi Chapter to provide an end-to-end mentorship program for young men ages 9-18. The program has been an instrumental vehicle in building confidence of the young men of Montgomery and surrounding areas that teaches them life skills.
The emphasis is placed on topics such as Respect, Academic Discipline, Business Etiquette, and Higher Education. Guide Right and Kappa League are programs that will always be needed, and it is up to us as Kappa men to make sure that we make these programs the best that they can be, to help our youth in today’s society.
Members have performed community service activities with local nursing homes/assisted living facilities, Salvation Army, Family Guidance Center, and Relay for Life. They have participated in or visited the Southern Poverty Law Center, Ralph D. Abernathy Scholarship Breakfast, Tuskegee Airmen Museum, plays at the Leila Barlow Theatre at Alabama State University (ASU), Men’s Empowerment Emporium sponsored by ASU, ZooBoo at the Montgomery Zoo, College and Career Night sponsored by Junior League of Montgomery, Federation of Child Care Centers of Alabama (FOCAL) workshops, and campus tours at colleges in Alabama.
